FAQ
- What even is CIY Move?
- CIY (Christ in Youth) Move is a conference that takes place every week of the summer at over 20 different college campuses across the US. Each Move session is designed to give students a high-energy atmosphere of over 2,000 other high school students along with a place to experience the love of God.
- Why Lincoln, Nebraska?
- We love going to Lincoln, Nebraska for our week of Move because it typically stays the same week of the summer and the campus is close enough to make the trip in one day!
- How much does it cost for my student to attend?
- With help from generous people from the church, we are able to charge $400 per person. This is actually below the cost of a ticket, and we also include transportation in our cost! We do this because we don't want the cost to deter students from going on this life-changing trip!
- Are there any scholarships available to make the cost more affordable?
- Absolutely! Again, we don't want cost to be the reason that your student does not attend this trip! Please reach out to our Youth Minister, Evan Noggle, at evan@athenschristian.net for more information on scholarship availability.
- Why does my student want to go so bad?
- If we had to guess, your student wants to go to CIY because they heard about it through a friend! It has been very cool to see students inviting their friends as soon as they get back from CIY the previous year! They often share their stories from the trip and explain how much fun they had.
- What safety precautions are we you taking on the trip?
- A concern that every parent/guardian has when their high-schooler tells them about some trip that they want to go on the summer with a church is... how do I know my kid is going to be safe? We want you to rest assured knowing that we are taking precautions to prioritize your kid's safety in every way we can. All of our leaders are well trusted and background checked by the church. We also plan to bring an RN with us to help handle medications and help with medical situations. While we want our students to encounter the love of Jesus on this trip, we recognize that unless they feel/are safe, they won't be in the right frame of mind to fully understand what is going on. If you have any questions regarding our safety precautions, please reach out to our Youth Minister, Evan Noggle.
- How many spots are available on the trip?
- Last year, we took 65 students and 8 leaders. This year, we hope to bring more, but are limited by transportation.
- When is it too late to sign up?
- As with many things, the sooner the better! Because of our limited space, we cannot guarantee that we will have a spot available for everyone who is wanting to go. I would encourage everyone who is thinking about going to sign up before October 1st.
- What happens if the spots are full?
- We will have a wait list available for those who were unable to register. If anyone drops out of the trip, spots will be available based on a first come, first served basis.
- How much of the cost do I have to pay upfront?
- We ask that a $100 non-refundable deposit be submitted as soon as possible after you register. If you need any financial assistance or need more time to submit the $100 deposit, let Evan Noggle know. We are happy to help support you any way we can, but you must give us a heads up as soon as you can!
- What if I register, but am unable to attend?
- This happens more often than you think! July 6-10th is a long ways away... sometimes things come up. All payments are non-refundable once submitted, so we are not able to refund any payments you had already made up to that point. We will direct those funds to help cover the cost of those still going on the trip.
- Can I pay the whole cost of the trip upfront?
- Absolutely! Feel free to submit payments towards your trip at any time.
- My student wants to go, but also has a lot of anxiety, what should I do?
- We will never force a student to do something that they don't want to do, but we will encourage them! Even students who have gone every year of high school still get nervous before a trip, so there is nothing to feel ashamed about! My encouragement to them is to talk with a student who has been before! Many returning students know exactly how they feel!
- Who will my student room with?
- We won't know that info until we are weeks away from the trip. We will have everyone submit a roommate preference form so we can help put students with those they are comfortable with!
- Is there anything I have to do in between now and CIY Move?
- Yes! Be on the lookout for communication that gives info on meetings, forms that need filled out, and other things of the sort! We will send messages out routinely!
- Who should I contact with my other questions?
- You can contact ourYouth Minister, Evan Noggle, at evan@@athenschristian.net
